Short Breaks Bali 4 Days Getaway - 4 Days

4 Day Getaway

This is our most popular 4 day mountain bike adventure. We cover lots of ground and explore some of the best trails and most beautiful natural sights on the island. This trip is just right. It's not to hard and not to easy so that both experienced and intermediate mountain bikers will be able to enjoy this trip. If needed we can make the daily distances a bit longer (or shorter) and together with our guides we will make adjustments as we go.

If you don't have a full week to spend but you still want to do as much riding as you can in a shorter package then this trip is perfect for you.

ITINERARY

Day 1 | Batu Karu Temple to Canggu | 55km
An early transfer will bring us to Mount Batu Karu (2576m) which is the second highest mountain in Bali. We will visit the beautiful Batu Karu Temple at the foot of the volcano wearing traditional Balinese clothing (needed to enter the temple) which we will provide. This area of Bali is not frequently visited by tourist and will simply take your breath away. We will start riding from the temple to the Unesco listed rice paddy fields of Jatiluwih where we will have our first break. From here we will ride all the way back to coast through the most amazing rice paddy fields and local villages. Lunch is the delicious 'Babi Gulling' (sucking pig), the favorite dish of the Balinese. After the ride we can visit the famous Tanah Lot Temple. One of Bali’s most beautiful temples build on a rock in the ocean, at high tide the sea surrounds the temple. (B L)

Day 02 | Ride around the Crater of Mount Batur| 28km
We transfer with our support vehicle to the central volcanoes of the island. Today's ride goes around the outer rim of the volcano with amazing views of the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. You may expect some of Bali's best single track riding! Later we descend into the caldera and ride through the lava stream where the latest eruption happened, an amazing experience. After lunch we visit the local hot springs of Toya Devasa where we spend a few hours. In the afternoon we transfer to Ubud where we will spend the next two nights in our accommodation located 5 minutes outside the busy center. In the morning we can organize an optional hike to the summit of Mount Batur.

Day 03 | Ride from Mount Batur all the way down to Ubud | 35km
In the morning we will head out and visit 2 cultural highlights just outside Ubud. First stop will be the amazing rice field terraces of Tegalalang. From here we transfer with our support vehicle to Tirta Empul. For more than a thousand years, Balinese worshipers have been drawn to Tirta Empul Temple whose sacred spring is said to have healing powers.

We will then continue to the starting point of our bike ride for the day at Mount Batur. From here we will ride through a maze of local trails all the way down to Ubud. The first bit of the ride goes through fruit farms and local villages. The second part goes through the classic rice paddy fields. After the ride there is time to relax a bit by the hotels swimming pool or wonder around in Ubud and do some more exploring.

Day 04 | Ride from Mount Abang to the Coast | 38km
Another morning transfer to the rim of the volcano of Mount Abang. From here we will start riding, bit more technical today, but nothing serious and lots of fun. Today we ride through bamboo forest, dry creek beds, jungle forest and rice paddies - everything you can imagine! The ride finishes near the town of Tangkup in the South-East of Bali. From here we can transfer you back to your accommodation in the South or we can head back to Ubud (accommodation on Day 4 is not included).

REVIEW ABOUT THIS TRIP
Sam and his crew are professional in every sense of the word. The 4 days of riding were extremely well organised. Each day was different and showcased parts of Bali not accessible to tourists. For me it was a real eye opener to the culture and life of the traditional Balinese people. The riding was challenging at times but very rewarding as skill levels and stamina were tested. Without doubt this was a memorable and truly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Bali to at the very least book in for one ride with Sam and his team.
