Traveling from Bali to Lombok
Lombok is a very beautiful island, yet still unspoiled. There are lots of exquisite places: remote beaches – great for surfing, fascinating landmarks, and also Indonesia’s second-highest active volcano, Rinjani.
The laid-back atmosphere in Lombok might make you consider Lombok as your next holiday destination.
Bali and Lombok are very close - they only separated by Lombok Strait. Getting from Bali to Lombok is very easy! There are three main options to get there: ferry, fast boat, and domestic flights.
Getting there – Fast Boat
You can find a wide selection of companies offers this service. Most of the boats depart from Padang Bai, East Bali, and some are available on Serangan, Amed, and Sanur. It takes around 2 hours to cross the Bali straits. It costs around IDR 200,000 (USD 15) per person.
The crossing can get a bit rough if you get sea-sick quite easily. But normally, the ride should be fine and you can enjoy East Bali’s amazing views as you approaching Lombok. We advise anyone going to take a fast boat to Lombok to strongly consider weather conditions.

Getting there – Ferry
The ferry is larger than a fast boat – it is capable of transporting passengers along with bicycles, motorbikes, cars, trucks, and even tour buses! It departs exclusively only from Padang Bai, East Bali. Due to its size and big capacity, it takes a longer time to get to Lombok – usually around three until five hours on the ocean.
If you travel on a budget, the ferry might become your choice of transportation as it only costs around IDR 30,000 (USD 2) to IDR 50,000 (USD 4) per person. Most ferry and fast boat service depart every hour and operating for 24 hours.

Getting there – Domestic Flights ✈️
This is the easiest and fastest way. When we say the fastest, it is really fast! It only takes 20-40 minutes to get to Lombok airport, Zainuddibalin Abdul Madjid International Airport. The airport itself located only 30 minutes to the capital city, Mataram.
Price for the domestic flights is quite affordable – it varies from around IDR 200,000 (USD 15) to IDR 1,000,000 (USD 73). If you are traveling with kids or a baby, we recommend you to look at this option for their convenience.
