Itinerary
Day 1 | Tabanan Countryside | Arrival Day
Upon your arrival at the airport, our team will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name on it. The drive to Tabanan takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. The day does not have any scheduled activities, allowing you to rest and recover from your trip. In the evening, we will take you to a local restaurant where you will meet our team and other travelers. Our location in Bali is situated amidst rice paddy fields in a secluded area. (D)
Day 2 | Batu Karu Temple to Tabanan | 55km
Let's get ready to hit the trails! We'll be cycling all the way back to our charming accommodation, so no need to pack up today. We'll start with an early transfer to Mount Batu Karu, which is the second highest mountain in Bali at 2576m. We'll visit the beautiful Batu Karu Temple at the volcano's foot, and we'll provide traditional Balinese clothing, which is necessary to enter the temple. This area of Bali is off the beaten path and is sure to take your breath away. We'll start our ride from the temple to the UNESCO-listed rice paddy fields of Jatiluwih, where we'll take our first break. Then, we'll ride through the most amazing rice paddy fields and local villages all the way back to the coast. For lunch, we'll enjoy the delicious 'Babi Gulling' (sucking pig), which is a favorite dish of the Balinese. After the ride, we'll visit the famous Tanah Lot Temple, one of Bali's most beautiful temples, built on a rock in the ocean. During high tide, the sea surrounds the temple. (B L)
Day 3 | Mount Abang to Amed | 50km
Today, we're packing up and heading to Bali's peaceful North East Coast for a two-night stay. Amed is a string of charming fishing villages along the dry and rugged northeastern coast of Bali, stretching for about 10km. It's a complete contrast to the bustling tourist center in the South of Bali. Our journey today will take us from Mount Abang in the center of Bali to Amed in the North-East of the island. After a good warm-up climb, we'll venture into the rugged center of the island, cycling through local fruit and cashew plantations. This region of Bali is quite arid and doesn't receive much rainfall. The first 25km of the ride is off-road until we reach the main road, and then it's another 25km to the delightful fishing village of Amed. If you're up for a good challenge, we recommend cycling all the way to the hotel, but be prepared for a few uphill climbs along the way! Our support vehicle will always be on hand if needed. Our accommodation is situated right on the beach, and there's excellent snorkeling available in front of the hotel. At around 5 pm, we'll set out on a traditional wooden boat with a local fisherman to watch the sunset from the water and perhaps catch a few fish. (B L)
Day 4 | Snorkeling in Amed | Free Day
We have an exciting snorkeling adventure planned to explore the Japanese shipwreck. The wreck is conveniently located just off the beach in shallow waters with a depth of 6 meters. Amed is well-known for its exceptional snorkeling and diving opportunities, offering live coral, a plethora of fish, and crystal-clear waters at many of beaches. In addition, we offer an optional 3-hour bike ride along a stunning coastal road with breathtaking views, though please note that the terrain is quite hilly. Alternatively, you can choose to relax at the hotel, indulge in a soothing massage, and sip on some mouthwatering cocktails. Remember, this is your holiday! (B L)
Day 5 | Mount Abang to the coast | cycle 35km
It's time to pack up and hit the road again. Today's ride might be a bit more technical, but nothing too challenging. By now, you should feel more confident on the bikes and comfortable with the terrain we'll be riding on in Bali. We'll kick off the day with an early transfer from our hotel to the higher regions of the island, near the volcanic core. We'll start our ride downhill from 1600m above sea level, taking in breathtaking scenery as we pass through some of the most stunning parts of the island. Today's ride is definitely a highlight of the trip! Once we finish, we'll take a 45-minute transfer to Sanur, where our beautiful accommodation is located right on the beach. (B L)
Day 6 | Mount Batur to Ubud | cycle 35km
Our journey for today will begin at the outer crater rim of Mount Batur and will end in Ubud. We'll be cycling mostly downhill on a variety of terrain. Although the ride will be a little easier today, the views will be breathtaking with the picturesque rice paddy fields and charming local villages. Our estimated arrival time in Ubud is 03 pm, which will provide us with ample time for sightseeing and exploring the area.
Day 7 | Hike to the summit of Mount Batur | Hike 2,5 hours
Today, we have the opportunity to conquer the iconic and still active volcano of Mount Batur, which rises to an impressive height of 1,717m or 5,633 feet. Our guide will pick us up from our accommodation at around 02 am and we will begin the trek at 3:30 am, with the climb taking roughly two and a half hours. Witnessing the sunrise from the top of an active volcano is a rare and unforgettable experience and the panoramic views of Bali are simply stunning. After reaching the summit, weather permitting, we will hike around the three volcano craters, which is a truly spectacular experience. Our guide will provide us with water, snacks, and breakfast to make this a memorable experience. We should be back down by 09:00 am, and then we will visit the local hot springs for relaxation and rejuvenation. We should be back in Ubud by noon, where we can choose to relax by the hotel's swimming pool or continue exploring the area.
Day 8 | Departure Day
It's departure day today and there aren't any scheduled activities. You'll need to check out by noon. Kindly inform us of your departure time, so we can arrange either an airport transfer or a transfer to your next destination in Bali, specifically the Southern beach areas or Ubud. (B)
