Itinerary
We will begin our journey early to reach Mount Batu Karu, Bali's second-highest mountain. At the base of the volcano, we will visit the stunning Batu Karu Temple, where traditional Balinese attire is required for entry. Don't worry - we'll provide the clothing! This area of Bali is not frequented by tourists, making it a breathtaking and unique experience. Our ride will start at the temple and take us through the UNESCO-listed rice paddy fields of Jatiluwih, where we'll take a break. Then, we'll continue our ride through local villages and more stunning rice paddies until we reach the coast. For lunch, we'll enjoy the Balinese favorite, 'Babi Gulling' (sucking pig). After our ride, we can visit the famous Tanah Lot Temple, one of Bali's most beautiful temples built on a rock in the ocean. At high tide, the temple is surrounded by the sea. (BL)
Day 2 | Ride around the Crater of Mount Batur | 28km
We'll take our support vehicle to the central volcanoes of the island for an exciting ride around the outer rim of the volcano. You'll get to enjoy stunning views of the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other, while experiencing some of Bali's best single track riding. Later, we'll descend into the caldera and ride through the lava stream where the latest eruption occurred, an unforgettable experience. After lunch, we'll head to the local hot springs of Toya Devasa where we'll spend a few hours. In the late afternoon, we'll transfer back to our hotel located on the rim. You'll be treated to amazing views of Mount Batur and the lake from your hotel room.
Day 3 | Hike to the summit of Mount Batur | Ride from Mount Batur all the way down to Ubud | 35km
At around 3am, your trekking guide will pick you up from your accommodation for the hike to Mount Batur's summit. Witnessing the sunrise from the summit is an unforgettable display of nature's awakening, taking approximately 2 hours to reach. We will provide a light breakfast with coffee or tea once we reach the top. After the hike, we will return to your hotel around 9am for check-out and get ready for the cycling portion. At 10am, we will start riding downhill through various terrains, passing fruit farms and local villages before reaching the rice paddy fields. After the ride, you can relax by the hotel's swimming pool or explore Ubud further.
Day 4 | Ride from Mount Abang to the Coast | 38km
Around 8am, we will embark on a cultural tour outside Ubud, visiting two key destinations. Our first stop will be the stunning rice field terraces of Tegalalang, followed by a trip to Tirta Empul. This temple has been a holy site for over a thousand years and is renowned for its healing spring. Next, we will drive to the rim of Mount Abang volcano, where we will begin our bike ride. Today's ride will take us through a variety of terrain, including bamboo forests, dry creek beds, jungle forests, and rice paddies. While the ride will be a bit more technical than yesterday's, it will be lots of fun. We'll finish near Tangkup in the southeast of Bali, where we can either transfer you back to your accommodation in the south or return to Ubud (please note that accommodation on Day 4 is not included).
