Hike & Bike Mount Ijen
Join us for an incredible 2-day adventure package designed for those staying in Bali and experience one of the most spectacular sights in East Java. Witness the breathtaking views of the bluish-green mist and sulfur fumes rising from the large lake of the Ijen Volcano or Mount Ijen, an active volcano located in Banyuwangi regency, East Java, Indonesia, with a height of 2,343m and a history of four eruptions.
On day 1, we will take you on a mountain bike tour of the beautiful surroundings of Mount Ijen, where you will enjoy the scenic sights along the way. On day 2, start with a 3am pick up and will hike to the top of the volcano's crater to witness the sunrise. After breakfast, we will embark on another incredible 30km bike ride. You won't want to miss this unforgettable adventure!
Itinerary
DAY 1 | Morning transfer from Bali to the Ijen plateau | Afternoon mountain bike ride | Cycle 20km
We pick you up at your hotel in Bali around 05am. It is a 3 hours drive to Gilimanuk, the village from where the ferry leaves for Java. The ferry crossing takes one hour. From the boat you will already be able to see Mount Ijen. After the crossing we stop at a local restaurant at the seashore for lunch. We will start our mountain bike ride around 1 to 2 pm from our local accommodation and will be on the bikes for about 2 hours. We finish at our hotel around 4-5pm. Time for an early night because we got a really big day tomorrow! (B L)

DAY 2 | Hike to the rim of the crater of Mount Ijen | Hike 6km | Cycle 30km
We will pick you up from your accommodation at around 3am and the drive from the hotel will take approximately 1 hour. The hike to the top of the crater will take between 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace and fitness level. If the weather is clear, the views from the top will be breathtaking. On our way back to the car park, we will witness the local miners carrying sulfur rock, a part of their daily tough life. We will be back at the parking area to meet our van and driver at around 9am where we will have a breakfast box meal.
After that, we will prepare for our second bike ride, which will cover a distance of about 30km. We will start from the slopes of Mount Ijen and cycle along onion gardens and other local vegetables perched on steep hills. The track today will be a combination of off-road and cycling on small paved roads. We will finish near the town of Banyuwangi, where the ride concludes. From there, we will transfer back to Bali with our private van. We should be back at your accommodation in Bali (South or Ubud) around 6 to 7pm.
Inclusions
Charming, knowledgeable local guide, hard tail mountain bikes, helmet, gloves, local snacks and fruit, drinking water, private trip with guide, car and driver, 1 night accommodation (double bed or twin share basis), 1 breakfast and 2 lunches.

Difficulty
Intermediate: Tours are suitable for riders with good fitness level. Previous mountain bike experience is recommended. Trail surfaces may include uneven terrain and narrow trails, some single track, with occasional obstacles (roots, rocks, sand). Hills and descents are moderate and require some skill. Riders with minimal mountain bike experience but who have road biking skills or a strong fitness level, along with an adventurous spirit, should be suitable for an intermediate tour.

Cycling Conditions
Day 1 : 20km cycling
Day 2 : 6km hiking and 30km cycling
We cycle on a very wide mixture of terrain on anything from single track, jeep tracks, sandy roads, broken tarmac roads and many more. You should have reasonable bike skills to be able to navigate the varying terrain. You should wear comfortable shoes appropriate for cycling for this ride.

Pick Up & Drop Off
Day 1: Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Sanur, Canggu, Legian and Kuta areas: 06am. Expect to be back in Bali on Day 2 around 06pm (but this is variable by group).
Bikes
2024 Polygon Siskiu xc or trail full suspension bikes with dropper post.
The bikes come with flat (standard) or Shimano SPD (by request) pedals.

Prices & Availability
2 Days of mountain biking with the hike to the top of the crater of Ijen and start at 3am for the sunrise: 2-4 people: US$380 per person with our mountain bikes (02 people sharing a room).
