What to do in Ubud
Located in the uplands of Bali, Ubud has a completely different atmosphere compared to a fancy and busy area like Kuta or Seminyak. This part of the island has long been known as its cultural capital. In the center of the town, you’ll easily find vivid art galleries, remarkable museums, and lots of other attractive places. Moreover, if you go to the outskirts area, you’ll be amazed by nature has to offer in the Ubud outer area.
Ubud has become a popular destination in some of our tours. We usually combined mountain biking with a visit to several cultural places in this beautiful town. However, on some tours, we also give free time for our guests to explore Ubud.
Here are some activities that you might enjoy while you’re in Ubud!
Walk around the rice terraces
The iconic Tegalalang rice terraces are one of the most visited tourist attraction in Ubud. It is only 20 minutes’ taxi or motorbikes away from the city center. They are famous for their beautiful scenery of rice paddies and innovative irrigation system called Subak.
In many of Infinity’s tour, we always visit this one of the UNESCO World Heritages. However, if you want to visit them by yourself, we recommend coming early in the morning. This magical place is the best way to start your day in Ubud!

Play with monkeys
You definitely can’t leave Ubud without visiting its signature attractions – the Sacred Monkey Forest. It is a popular wildlife reserve in Bali thanks to its community-based management, location and ease of access.
Stick to the following rules when visiting the monkey forest:
- Don’t look them into the eyes
- Don’t smile, showing your teeth is a form of aggression.
- Don’t feed them
- Don’t touch the babies
- Remove all loose items like jewelry, sunglasses or food that’s outside your bag

Relaxing ridge walk or bike
This is a beautiful paved walk or bike along the Campuhan ridge. The path will take you up and downhill providing you with a stunning view of the surrounding scenery. Although the path is located near the center of the town, some people say it almost feels like a different world – lush, green, and quiet.
Infinity often includes Campuhan ridge in our itineraries of some tours and the guest always loves this place! If you are interested in the ridge walk, visit the place early in the morning or before sunset to avoid the midday heat and have this place almost completely for yourself!

Do some yoga
Ubud is all about health and wellness – it is also known as yogi heaven. Starting your day with a yoga class is a great way to get into the relaxed, healthy Ubud vibe. The surrounding nature and the deep spiritual value of the Balinese culture make this little town a perfect place to embrace a mindful practice for your body and mind.

Have a pampering time at a spa
After a long day exploring Bali, a visit to one of the spas in Ubud is the best answer. Balinese massages are famous all over the world. Locals in this enchanting town have specialized in the art of using fresh local ingredients to give you the perfect massage.
Ubud is also known as Balinese’s capital of wellness – that’s why there are more than 200 spas listen in only the Ubud area! No better way to recharge your energy than by indulging in an hour (or two) massage. You deserve a break, right?
Explore the art market
Markets in Bali are always worth checking out. Besides the chance for a bargain, interacting with the locals makes for some of the more memorable moments you'll experience. In the morning locals sell fruits and vegetables in this market, and after 10 a.m. the art market opens.
Most locals are friendly so take a little time to chat. They sell everything from a handbag, kitchenware, decorations, paintings, souvenirs, you name it. If you’re on holiday in Bali, the Ubud Art Market is a great place to shop for souvenirs to take home.

Get lost in the waterfall
Ubud has some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Bali. One of the nearest ones is the Tegenungan Waterfall. It isn’t huge but the scenery is lovely. It is only a 30-minute drive from central Ubud. This is a highly visited waterfall because it is very accessible.
A day in the Tegenungan waterfall is not completed without swimming – many people said that the water was cool and refreshing. There are lifeguards which are a bonus and toilets to change before and after.
